Prayer
Gen 18:22-23
22 And the men
turned their faces from thence, and went toward Sodom: but Abraham stood yet
before the LORD.
23 And Abraham
drew near, and said, Wilt thou also destroy the righteous with the wicked?
(KJV)
Gen 20:17
17 So Abraham
prayed unto God: and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his maidservants;
and they bare children.
(KJV)
Num 21:7
7 Therefore
the people came to Moses, and said, We have sinned, for we have spoken against
the LORD, and against thee; pray unto the LORD, that he take away the serpents
from us. And Moses prayed for the people.
(KJV)
Judg 10:15-16
15 And the
children of Israel said unto the LORD, We have sinned: do thou unto us
whatsoever seemeth good unto thee; deliver us only, we pray thee, this day.
16 And they put
away the strange gods from among them, and served the LORD: and his soul was
grieved for the misery of Israel.
(KJV)
1 Sam 1:5-18
5 But unto
Hannah he gave a worthy portion; for he loved Hannah: but the LORD had shut up
her womb.
6 And her
adversary also provoked her sore, for to make her fret, because the LORD had
shut up her womb.
7 And as he
did so year by year, when she went up to the house of the LORD, so she provoked
her; therefore she wept, and did not eat.
8 Then said
Elkanah her husband to her, Hannah, why weepest thou? and why eatest thou not?
and why is thy heart grieved? am not I better to thee than ten sons?
9 So Hannah
rose up after they had eaten in Shiloh, and after they had drunk. Now Eli the
priest sat upon a seat by a post of the temple of the LORD.
10 And she was
in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the LORD, and wept sore.
11 And she vowed
a vow, and said, O LORD of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of
thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give
unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the LORD all the
days of his life, and there shall no rasor come upon his head.
12 And it came
to pass, as she continued praying before the LORD, that Eli marked her mouth.
13 Now Hannah,
she spake in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard:
therefore Eli thought she had been drunken.
14 And Eli said
unto her, How long wilt thou be drunken? put away thy wine from thee.
15 And Hannah
answered and said, No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit: I have
drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but have poured out my soul before the
LORD.
16 Count not
thine handmaid for a daughter of Belial: for out of the abundance of my
complaint and grief have I spoken hitherto.
17 Then Eli
answered and said, Go in peace: and the God of Israel grant thee thy petition
that thou hast asked of him.
18 And she said,
Let thine handmaid find grace in thy sight. So the woman went her way, and did
eat, and her countenance was no more sad.
(KJV)
1 Sam 1:26-27
26 And she said,
Oh my lord, as thy soul liveth, my lord, I am the woman that stood by thee
here, praying unto the LORD.
27 For this
child I prayed; and the LORD hath given me my petition which I asked of him:
(KJV)
IKing 8:52
52 That thine
eyes may be open unto the supplication of thy servant, and unto the
supplication of thy people Israel, to hearken unto them in all that they call
for unto thee.
(KJV)
IKing 13:6
6 And the king
answered and said unto the man of God, Intreat now the face of the LORD thy
God, and pray for me, that my hand may be restored me again. And the man of God
besought the LORD, and the king's hand was restored him again, and became as it
was before.
(KJV)
II Ki 6:17-18
17 And Elisha
prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the
LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain
was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.
18 And when they
came down to him, Elisha prayed unto the LORD, and said, Smite this people, I
pray thee, with blindness. And he smote them with blindness according to the
word of Elisha.
(KJV)
II Ki 19:15-20
15 And Hezekiah
prayed before the LORD, and said, O LORD God of Israel, which dwellest between
the cherubims, thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the
earth; thou hast made heaven and earth.
16 LORD, bow
down thine ear, and hear: open, LORD, thine eyes, and see: and hear the words
of Sennacherib, which hath sent him to reproach the living God.
17 Of a truth,
LORD, the kings of Assyria have destroyed the nations and their lands,
18 And have cast
their gods into the fire: for they were no gods, but the work of men's hands,
wood and stone: therefore they have destroyed them.
19 Now
therefore, O LORD our God, I beseech thee, save thou us out of his hand, that
all the kingdoms of the earth may know that thou art the LORD God, even thou
only.
20 Then Isaiah
the son of Amoz sent to Hezekiah, saying, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel,
That which thou hast prayed to me against Sennacherib king of Assyria I have
heard.
(KJV)
II Ki 20:2-6
2 Then he
turned his face to the wall, and prayed unto the LORD, saying,
3 I beseech
thee, O LORD, remember now how I have walked before thee in truth and with a
perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept
sore.
4 And it came
to pass, afore Isaiah was gone out into the middle court, that the word of the
LORD came to him, saying,
5 Turn again,
and tell Hezekiah the captain of my people, Thus saith the LORD, the God of
David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I
will heal thee: on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of the LORD.
6 And I will
add unto thy days fifteen years; and I will deliver thee and this city out of
the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city for mine own sake,
and for my servant David's sake.
(KJV)
1 Chr 4:10
10 And Jabez
called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and
enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest
keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he
requested.
(KJV)
2 Chr 6:13-42
13 For Solomon
had made a brasen scaffold, of five cubits long, and five cubits broad, and
three cubits high, and had set it in the midst of the court: and upon it he
stood, and kneeled down upon his knees before all the congregation of Israel,
and spread forth his hands toward heaven,
14 And said, O
LORD God of Israel, there is no God like thee in the heaven, nor in the earth;
which keepest covenant, and shewest mercy unto thy servants, that walk before
thee with all their hearts:
15 Thou which
hast kept with thy servant David my father that which thou hast promised him;
and spakest with thy mouth, and hast fulfilled it with thine hand, as it is
this day.
16 Now
therefore, O LORD God of Israel, keep with thy servant David my father that
which thou hast promised him, saying, There shall not fail thee a man in my
sight to sit upon the throne of Israel; yet so that thy children take heed to
their way to walk in my law, as thou hast walked before me.
17 Now then, O
LORD God of Israel, let thy word be verified, which thou hast spoken unto thy
servant David.
18 But will God
in very deed dwell with men on the earth? behold, heaven and the heaven of
heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house which I have built!
19 Have respect
therefore to the prayer of thy servant, and to his supplication, O LORD my God,
to hearken unto the cry and the prayer which thy servant prayeth before thee:
20 That thine
eyes may be open upon this house day and night, upon the place whereof thou
hast said that thou wouldest put thy name there; to hearken unto the prayer
which thy servant prayeth toward this place.
21 Hearken
therefore unto the supplications of thy servant, and of thy people Israel,
which they shall make toward this place: hear thou from thy dwelling place,
even from heaven; and when thou hearest, forgive.
22 If a man sin
against his neighbour, and an oath be laid upon him to make him swear, and the
oath come before thine altar in this house;
23 Then hear
thou from heaven, and do, and judge thy servants, by requiting the wicked, by
recompensing his way upon his own head; and by justifying the righteous, by
giving him according to his righteousness.
24 And if thy
people Israel be put to the worse before the enemy, because they have sinned
against thee; and shall return and confess thy name, and pray and make
supplication before thee in this house;
25 Then hear
thou from the heavens, and forgive the sin of thy people Israel, and bring them
again unto the land which thou gavest to them and to their fathers.
26 When the
heaven is shut up, and there is no rain, because they have sinned against thee;
yet if they pray toward this place, and confess thy name, and turn from their
sin, when thou dost afflict them;
27 Then hear
thou from heaven, and forgive the sin of thy servants, and of thy people
Israel, when thou hast taught them the good way, wherein they should walk; and
send rain upon thy land, which thou hast given unto thy people for an
inheritance.
28 If there be
dearth in the land, if there be pestilence, if there be blasting, or mildew,
locusts, or caterpillers; if their enemies besiege them in the cities of their
land; whatsoever sore or whatsoever sickness there be:
29 Then what
prayer or what supplication soever shall be made of any man, or of all thy
people Israel, when every one shall know his own sore and his own grief, and
shall spread forth his hands in this house:
30 Then hear
thou from heaven thy dwelling place, and forgive, and render unto every man
according unto all his ways, whose heart thou knowest; (for thou only knowest
the hearts of the children of men:)
31 That they may
fear thee, to walk in thy ways, so long as they live in the land which thou
gavest unto our fathers.
32 Moreover
concerning the stranger, which is not of thy people Israel, but is come from a
far country for thy great name's sake, and thy mighty hand, and thy stretched
out arm; if they come and pray in this house;
33 Then hear
thou from the heavens, even from thy dwelling place, and do according to all
that the stranger calleth to thee for; that all people of the earth may know
thy name, and fear thee, as doth thy people Israel, and may know that this
house which I have built is called by thy name.
34 If thy people
go out to war against their enemies by the way that thou shalt send them, and
they pray unto thee toward this city which thou hast chosen, and the house
which I have built for thy name;
35 Then hear
thou from the heavens their prayer and their supplication, and maintain their
cause.
36 If they sin
against thee, (for there is no man which sinneth not,) and thou be angry with
them, and deliver them over before their enemies, and they carry them away
captives unto a land far off or near;
37 Yet if they
bethink themselves in the land whither they are carried captive, and turn and
pray unto thee in the land of their captivity, saying, We have sinned, we have
done amiss, and have dealt wickedly;
38 If they
return to thee with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of
their captivity, whither they have carried them captives, and pray toward their
land, which thou gavest unto their fathers, and toward the city which thou hast
chosen, and toward the house which I have built for thy name:
39 Then hear
thou from the heavens, even from thy dwelling place, their prayer and their
supplications, and maintain their cause, and forgive thy people which have
sinned against thee.
40 Now, my God,
let, I beseech thee, thine eyes be open, and let thine ears be attent unto the
prayer that is made in this place.
41 Now therefore
arise, O LORD God, into thy resting place, thou, and the ark of thy strength:
let thy priests, O LORD God, be clothed with salvation, and let thy saints
rejoice in goodness.
42 O LORD God,
turn not away the face of thine anointed: remember the mercies of David thy
servant.
(KJV)
2 Chr 7:1
1 Now when
Solomon had made an end of praying, the fire came down from heaven, and
consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the LORD
filled the house.
(KJV)
2 Chr 7:12-15
12 And the LORD
appeared to Solomon by night, and said unto him, I have heard thy prayer, and
have chosen this place to myself for an house of sacrifice.
13 If I shut up
heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land,
or if I send pestilence among my people;
14 If my people,
which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my
face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will
forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
15 Now mine eyes
shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place.
(KJV)
2 Chr 20:9
9 If, when
evil cometh upon us, as the sword, judgment, or pestilence, or famine, we stand
before this house, and in thy presence, (for thy name is in this house,) and
cry unto thee in our affliction, then thou wilt hear and help.
(KJV)
2 Chr 30:18-20
18 For a
multitude of the people, even many of Ephraim, and Manasseh, Issachar, and
Zebulun, had not cleansed themselves, yet did they eat the passover otherwise
than it was written. But Hezekiah prayed for them, saying, The good LORD pardon
every one
19 That
prepareth his heart to seek God, the LORD God of his fathers, though he be not
cleansed according to the purification of the sanctuary.
20 And the LORD
hearkened to Hezekiah, and healed the people.

was God.

Neh 1:4-11
4 And it came
to pass, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned
certain days, and fasted, and prayed before the God of heaven,
5 And said, I
beseech thee, O LORD God of heaven, the great and terrible God, that keepeth
covenant and mercy for them that love him and observe his commandments:
6 Let thine
ear now be attentive, and thine eyes open, that thou mayest hear the prayer of
thy servant, which I pray before thee now, day and night, for the children of
Israel thy servants, and confess the sins of the children of Israel, which we
have sinned against thee: both I and my father's house have sinned.
7 We have
dealt very corruptly against thee, and have not kept the commandments, nor the
statutes, nor the judgments, which thou commandedst thy servant Moses.
8 Remember,
I beseech thee, the word that thou commandedst thy servant Moses, saying, If ye
transgress, I will scatter you abroad among the nations:
9 But if ye
turn unto me, and keep my commandments, and do them; though there were of you
cast out unto the uttermost part of the heaven, yet will I gather them from
thence, and will bring them unto the place that I have chosen to set my name
there.
10 Now these are
thy servants and thy people, whom thou hast redeemed by thy great power, and by
thy strong hand.
11 O Lord, I
beseech thee, let now thine ear be attentive to the prayer of thy servant, and
to the prayer of thy servants, who desire to fear thy name: and prosper, I pray
thee, thy servant this day, and grant him mercy in the sight of this man. For I
was the king's cupbearer.

to Hezekiah, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy
prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will add unto thy days fifteen years.
6 And I will
deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria: and I will
defend this city.
(KJV)
Isa 45:11
11 Thus saith
the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker, Ask me of things to come
concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands command ye me.
(KJV)
Isa 56:7
7 Even them
will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer:
their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar;
for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people.
(KJV)
Isa 58:9
9 Then shalt
thou call, and the LORD shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I
am. If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the
finger, and speaking vanity;
(KJV)
Isa 59:1-2
1 Behold,
the LORD's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy,
that it cannot hear:
2 But your
iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his
face from you, that he will not hear.
(KJV)
Jer 29:11-13
11 For I know
the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and
not of evil, to give you an expected end.
12 Then shall ye
call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.
13 And ye shall
seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
(KJV)
Jer 33:3
3 Call unto
me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou
knowest not.
(KJV)
Dan 6:10-11
10 Now when
Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his
windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees
three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did
aforetime.
11 Then these
men assembled, and found Daniel praying and making supplication before his God.
(KJV)
Dan 9:3-23
3 And I set my
face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and
sackcloth, and ashes:
4 And I prayed
unto the LORD my God, and made my confession, and said, O Lord, the great and
dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them
that keep his commandments;
5 We have
sinned, and have committed iniquity, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled,
even by departing from thy precepts and from thy judgments:
6 Neither have
we hearkened unto thy servants the prophets, which spake in thy name to our
kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land.
7 O Lord,
righteousness belongeth unto thee, but unto us confusion of faces, as at this
day; to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and unto all
Israel, that are near, and that are far off, through all the countries whither
thou hast driven them, because of their trespass that they have trespassed
against thee.
8 O Lord, to
us belongeth confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our
fathers, because we have sinned against thee.
9 To the Lord
our God belong mercies and forgivenesses, though we have rebelled against him;
10 Neither have
we obeyed the voice of the LORD our God, to walk in his laws, which he set
before us by his servants the prophets.
11 Yea, all
Israel have transgressed thy law, even by departing, that they might not obey
thy voice; therefore the curse is poured upon us, and the oath that is written
in the law of Moses the servant of God, because we have sinned against him.
12 And he hath
confirmed his words, which he spake against us, and against our judges that
judged us, by bringing upon us a great evil: for under the whole heaven hath
not been done as hath been done upon Jerusalem.
13 As it is
written in the law of Moses, all this evil is come upon us: yet made we not our
prayer before the LORD our God, that we might turn from our iniquities, and
understand thy truth.
14 Therefore
hath the LORD watched upon the evil, and brought it upon us: for the LORD our
God is righteous in all his works which he doeth: for we obeyed not his voice.
15 And now, O
Lord our God, that hast brought thy people forth out of the land of Egypt with
a mighty hand, and hast gotten thee renown, as at this day; we have sinned, we
have done wickedly.
16 O Lord,
according to all thy righteousness, I beseech thee, let thine anger and thy
fury be turned away from thy city Jerusalem, thy holy mountain: because for our
sins, and for the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and thy people are
become a reproach to all that are about us.
17 Now
therefore, O our God, hear the prayer of thy servant, and his supplications,
and cause thy face to shine upon thy sanctuary that is desolate, for the Lord's
sake.
18 O my God,
incline thine ear, and hear; open thine eyes, and behold our desolations, and
the city which is called by thy name: for we do not present our supplications
before thee for our righteousnesses, but for thy great mercies.
19 O Lord, hear;
O Lord, forgive; O Lord, hearken and do; defer not, for thine own sake, O my
God: for thy city and thy people are called by thy name.
20 And whiles I
was speaking, and praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people
Israel, and presenting my supplication before the LORD my God for the holy
mountain of my God;
21 Yea, whiles I
was speaking in prayer, even the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at
the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, touched me about the time of the
evening oblation.
22 And he
informed me, and talked with me, and said, O Daniel, I am now come forth to
give thee skill and understanding.
23 At the
beginning of thy supplications the commandment came forth, and I am come to
shew thee; for thou art greatly beloved: therefore understand the matter, and
consider the vision.
(KJV)
Dan 10:10-14
10 And, behold,
an hand touched me, which set me upon my knees and upon the palms of my hands.
11 And he said
unto me, O Daniel, a man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak
unto thee, and stand upright: for unto thee am I now sent. And when he had
spoken this word unto me, I stood trembling.
12 Then said he
unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine
heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were
heard, and I am come for thy words.
13 But the
prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo,
Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with
the kings of Persia.
14 Now I am come
to make thee understand what shall befall thy people in the latter days: for
yet the vision is for many days.
(KJV)
Jonah 2:1-10
1 Then Jonah
prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish's belly,
2 And said, I
cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the
belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice.
3 For thou
hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed
me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me.
4 Then I said,
I am cast out of thy sight; yet I will look again toward thy holy temple.
5 The waters
compassed me about, even to the soul: the depth closed me round about, the
weeds were wrapped about my head.
6 I went down
to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever:
yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God.
7 When my soul
fainted within me I remembered the LORD: and my prayer came in unto thee, into
thine holy temple.
8 They that
observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy.
9 But I will
sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have
vowed. Salvation is of the LORD.
10 And the LORD
spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.
(KJV)
Zech 10:1
1 Ask ye of
the LORD rain in the time of the latter rain; so the LORD shall make bright
clouds, and give them showers of rain, to every one grass in the field.
(KJV)
Zech 13:9
9 And I will
bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is
refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I
will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The LORD is my
God.
(KJV)
Matt 5:44
44 But I say
unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that
hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
(KJV)
Matt 6:5-13
5 And when
thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray
standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be
seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
6 But thou,
when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door,
pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret
shall reward thee openly.
7 But when ye
pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they
shall be heard for their much speaking.
8 Be not ye
therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of,
before ye ask him.
9 After this
manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom
come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this
day our daily bread.
12 And forgive
us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13 And lead us
not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and
the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
(KJV)
Matt 7:7-11
7 Ask, and it
shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto
you:
8 For every
one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that
knocketh it shall be opened.
9 Or what man
is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?
10 Or if he ask
a fish, will he give him a serpent?
11 If ye then,
being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall
your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
(KJV)
Matt 9:38
38 Pray ye
therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his
harvest.
(KJV)
Matt 14:23
23 And when he
had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and
when the evening was come, he was there alone.
(KJV)
Matt 17:15-21
15 Lord, have
mercy on my son: for he is lunatick, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth
into the fire, and oft into the water.
16 And I brought
him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him.
17 Then Jesus answered
and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you?
how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me.
18 And Jesus
rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from
that very hour.
19 Then came the
disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out?
20 And Jesus
said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have
faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence
to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
21 Howbeit
this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.
(KJV)
Matt 18:18-20
18 Verily I say
unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and
whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
19 Again I say
unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that
they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.
20 For where two
or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
(KJV)
Matt 19:13-15
13 Then were
there brought unto him little children, that he should put his hands on them,
and pray: and the disciples rebuked them.
14 But Jesus
said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such
is the kingdom of heaven.
15 And he laid
his hands on them, and departed thence.
(KJV)
Matt 21:12-14
12 And Jesus
went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the
temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them
that sold doves,
13 And said unto
them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have
made it a den of thieves.
14 And the blind
and the lame came to him in the temple; and he healed them.
(KJV)
Matt 21:21-22
21 Jesus
answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt
not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye
shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea;
it shall be done.
22 And all
things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
(KJV)
Matt 26:36-44
36 Then cometh
Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples,
Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder.
37 And he took
with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very
heavy.
38 Then saith he
unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and
watch with me.
39 And he went a
little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be
possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou
wilt.
40 And he cometh
unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could
ye not watch with me one hour?
41 Watch and
pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the
flesh is weak.
42 He went away
again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not
pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.
43 And he came
and found them asleep again: for their eyes were heavy.
44 And he left
them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words.
(KJV)
Mark 1:35
35 And in the
morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a
solitary place, and there prayed.
(KJV)
Mark 6:46
46 And when he
had sent them away, he departed into a mountain to pray.
(KJV)
Mark 9:23
23 Jesus said
unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.
(KJV)
Mark 11:22-26
22 And Jesus
answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.
23 For verily I
say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and
be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe
that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever
he saith.
24 Therefore
I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye
receive them, and ye shall have them.
25 And when ye
stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also
which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.
26 But if ye do
not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your
trespasses.
(KJV)
Mark 13:32-33
32 But of that
day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven,
neither the Son, but the Father.
33 Take ye heed,
watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.
(KJV)
Mark 14:32-39
32 And they came
to a place which was named Gethsemane: and he saith to his disciples, Sit ye
here, while I shall pray.
33 And he taketh
with him Peter and James and John, and began to be sore amazed, and to be very
heavy;
34 And saith
unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death: tarry ye here, and watch.
35 And he went
forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it were possible,
the hour might pass from him.
36 And he said,
Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me:
nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt.
37 And he
cometh, and findeth them sleeping, and saith unto Peter, Simon, sleepest thou?
couldest not thou watch one hour?
38 Watch ye and
pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh
is weak.
39 And again he
went away, and prayed, and spake the same words.
(KJV)
Mark 16:17-20
17 And these
signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils;
they shall speak with new tongues;
18 They shall
take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them;
they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
19 So then after
the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the
right hand of God.
20 And they went
forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the
word with signs following. Amen.
(KJV)
Luke 1:10-13
10 And the whole
multitude of the people were praying without at the time of incense.
11 And there
appeared unto him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar
of incense.
12 And when
Zacharias saw him, he was troubled, and fear fell upon him.
13 But the angel
said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife
Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.
(KJV)
Luke 2:37
37 And she was a
widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple,
but served God with fastings and prayers night and day.
(KJV)
Luke 3:21-22
21 Now when all
the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and
praying, the heaven was opened,
22 And the Holy
Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from
heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.
(KJV)
Luke 5:16
16 And he
withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed.
(KJV)
Luke 6:12
12 And it came
to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued
all night in prayer to God.
(KJV)
Luke 9:28-29
28 And it came
to pass about an eight days after these sayings, he took Peter and John and
James, and went up into a mountain to pray.
29 And as he
prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment was white
and glistering.
(KJV)
Luke 10:2
2 Therefore
said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray
ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into
his harvest.
(KJV)
Luke 11:1-4
1 And it came
to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his
disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his
disciples.
2 And he said
unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy
name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.
3 Give us day by
day our daily bread.
4 And forgive
us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us
not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.
(KJV)
Luke 11:9-13
9 And I say
unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and
it shall be opened unto you.
10 For every one
that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it
shall be opened.
11 If a son
shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if
he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?
12 Or if he
shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?
13 If ye then,
being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall
your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?
(KJV)
Luke 18:1
1 And he spake
a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to
faint;
(KJV)
Luke 18:10-14
10 Two men went
up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.
11 The Pharisee
stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other
men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.
12 I fast twice
in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.
13 And the
publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven,
but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.
14 I tell you,
this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one
that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be
exalted.
(KJV)
Luke 21:36
36 Watch ye
therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these
things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.
(KJV)
Luke 22:40-46
40 And when he
was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation.
41 And he was
withdrawn from them about a stone's cast, and kneeled down, and prayed,
42 Saying,
Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will,
but thine, be done.
43 And there
appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.
44 And being in
an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of
blood falling down to the ground.
45 And when he
rose up from prayer, and was come to his disciples, he found them sleeping for
sorrow,
46 And said unto
them, Why sleep ye? rise and pray, lest ye enter into temptation.
(KJV)
John 11:41-42
41 Then they
took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up
his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.
42 And I knew
that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said
it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.
(KJV)
John 14:13-16
13 And
whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be
glorified in the Son.
14 If ye shall
ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
15 If ye love
me, keep my commandments.
16 And I will
pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide
with you for ever;
(KJV)
John 15:7
7 If ye abide
in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be
done unto you.
(KJV)
John 16:23-24
23 And in that
day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye
shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.
24 Hitherto
have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may
be full.
(KJV)
John 16:26-27
26 At that day
ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father
for you:
27 For the
Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I
came out from God.
(KJV)
John 17:1-26
1 These words
spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is
come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:
2 As thou hast
given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as
thou hast given him.
3 And this is
life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ,
whom thou hast sent.
4 I have
glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to
do.
5 And now, O
Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with
thee before the world was.
6 I have
manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine
they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.
7 Now they
have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee.
8 For I have
given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them,
and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that
thou didst send me.
9 I pray for
them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they
are thine.
10 And all mine
are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them.
11 And now I am
no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy
Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they
may be one, as we are.
12 While I was
with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I
have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the
scripture might be fulfilled.
13 And now come
I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy
fulfilled in themselves.
14 I have given
them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the
world, even as I am not of the world.
15 I pray not
that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep
them from the evil.
16 They are not
of the world, even as I am not of the world.
17 Sanctify
them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
18 As thou hast
sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.
19 And for their
sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.
20 Neither pray
I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their
word;
21 That they all
may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be
one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
22 And the glory
which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are
one:
23 I in them,
and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may
know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.
24 Father, I
will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they
may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the
foundation of the world.
25 O righteous
Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have
known that thou hast sent me.
26 And I have
declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou
hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.
(KJV)
Acts 1:14
14 These all
continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary
the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.
(KJV)
Acts 1:24-26
24 And they
prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, which knowest the hearts of all men, shew whether
of these two thou hast chosen,
25 That he may
take part of this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas by transgression
fell, that he might go to his own place.
26 And they gave
forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the
eleven apostles.

25 Who by the
mouth of thy servant David hast said, Why did the heathen rage, and the people
imagine vain things?
26 The kings of
the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and
against his Christ.
27 For of a
truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and
Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered
together,
28 For to do
whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done.
29 And now,
Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all
boldness they may speak thy word,
30 By stretching
forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of

Rom 8:26-27
26 Likewise
the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray
for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with
groanings which cannot be uttered.
27 And he that
searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh
intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

you, brethren, for the Lord Jesus Christ's sake, and for the love of the
Spirit, that ye strive together with me in your prayers to God for me;

delivered from them that do not believe in Judaea; and that my service which I
have for Jerusalem may be accepted of the saints;
32 That I may
come unto you with joy by the will of God, and may with you be refreshed.
33 Now the God
of peace be with you all. Amen.

speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man

(KJV)
1 Cor 14:13-16
13 Wherefore
let him that speaketh in an unknown tongue pray that he may interpret.
14 For if I pray
in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful.
15 What is it
then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also:
I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.
16 Else when
thou shalt bless with the spirit, how shall he that occupieth the room of the
unlearned say Amen at thy giving of thanks, seeing he understandeth not what
thou sayest?
(KJV)
2 Cor 1:11
11 Ye also
helping together by prayer for us, that for the gift bestowed upon us by the

4 (For the
weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling
down of strong holds;)
5 Casting
down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the
knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of
Christ;
(KJV)
2 Cor 13:7
7 Now I pray
to God that ye do no evil; not that we should appear approved, but that ye
should do that which is honest, though we be as reprobates.
(KJV)

3 Blessed be
the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all

Eph 1:15-23
15 Wherefore
I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the
saints,
16 Cease not to
give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;
17 That the God
of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of
wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
18 The eyes of
your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his
calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
19 And what is
the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the
working of his mighty power,
20 Which he
wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own
right hand in the heavenly places,
21 Far above all
principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named,
not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:
22 And hath put
all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the
church,
23 Which is his
body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
15 Of whom the
whole family in heaven and earth is named,
16 That he would
grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might
by his Spirit in the inner man;
17 That Christ
may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
18 May be able
to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and
height;
19 And to know the
love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the
fulness of God.
20 Now unto him
that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think,
according to the power that worketh in us,
21 Unto him be
glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end.
Amen.
(KJV)
Eph 5:18-20
18 And be not
drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
19 Speaking
to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody
in your heart to the Lord;
20 Giving thanks
always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus
Christ;
(KJV)
Eph 6:12-19
12 For we
wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against
powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual
wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore
take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the
evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand
therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the
breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet
shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all,
taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery
darts of the wicked.
17 And take the
helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying
always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto
with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
19 And for me,
that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make
known the mystery of the gospel,
(KJV)
Phil 1:3-6
3 I thank my
God upon every remembrance of you,
4 Always in
every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy,
5 For your
fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now;
6 Being
confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will
perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
(KJV)
Phil 1:9-11
9 And this I
pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all
judgment;

till the day of Christ;
11 Being filled
with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and
praise of God.
(KJV)

through Christ Jesus.

walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work,
and increasing in the knowledge of God;
11 Strengthened
with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and
longsuffering with joyfulness;
12 Giving thanks
unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of
the saints in light:
13 Who hath
delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the
kingdom of his dear Son:
14 In whom we
have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
(KJV)
Col 2:1-2
1 For I would
that ye knew what great conflict I have for you, and for them at Laodicea, and
for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh;
2 That their
hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of
the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of
God, and of the Father, and of Christ;
(KJV)
Col 4:1-4
1 Masters,
give unto your servants that which is just and equal; knowing that ye also have
a Master in heaven.
2 Continue
in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;

praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak
the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds:
4 That I may
make it manifest, as I ought to speak.
(KJV)

of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to
the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Finally,
brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be
glorified, even as it is with you:
(KJV)
1 Tim 2:1-4
1 I exhort
therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and
giving of thanks, be made for all men;
2 For kings,
and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life
in all godliness and honesty.
3 For this is
good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
4 Who will
have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
(KJV)
1 Tim 2:8
8 I will
therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and
doubting.

whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I
have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day;

therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.

things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to
faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
3 Thou
therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

you, brethren, suffer the word of exhortation: for I have written a letter unto
you in few words.

James 1:5-8
5 If any of
you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and
upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
6 But let him
ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea
driven with the wind and tossed.
7 For let not
that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
8 A double
minded man is unstable in all his ways.

adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is
enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy
of God.
5 Do ye think
that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to
envy?
6 But he
giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth
grace unto the humble.
7 Submit
yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
8 Draw nigh to
God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify
your hearts, ye double minded.

prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he
have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
16 Confess
your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed.

months.
18 And he prayed
again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.

the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his
will, he heareth us:
15 And if we
know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions
that we desired of him.
16 If any man
see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall
give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do
not say that he shall pray for it.
